Matt Groening, the man who created the most iconic family in American history, The Simpsons and the beloved time travelling comedy Futurama has a new series the works. Netflix has given the green light to a new show called Disenchantment which has been given a 20-episode order and is slated to debut in 2018.
Disenchantment takes place in a crumbling medieval kingdom called Dreamland. The main characters will include a hard drinking princess named Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her persona demon Luci. The three main characters will be voiced by Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre.
News of another Groening animated series first leaked in January 2016. Disenchantment will be Groening's first series for a streaming service. The series will join a strong animated lineup on Netflix which is also behind Bojack Horseman and F is for Family.
"Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you." said Groening.
The plot does not sound revolutionary or completely original however a show with a fairly simple plot line which is paired with fantastic characters and unique humour and writing can carve its own niche in the ever growing world of television.
